GQF Sportsman 1502 HAS BEEN ORDERED, My 1st Cabinet Incubator!

I took the plunge! Right into a Cabinet Incubator!!  Lets talk about the GQF Sportsman 1502!

So After a few really bad experiences with incubators, I took the plunge!! You know, I only have to sell 90 Polish chicks at $10 each to get my money back! I'm being funny, but really, I do look at it like that sometimes!

So, Who has one? Do you love it? I did a lot of research and this beauty holds 270 chicken eggs and has a hatching drawer on the bottom.  I love the clear window on the front so I can see the eggs.

So it was my "Mother's Day" gift so of course I had to take a picture of the little racers in front of it!!

After unpacking the incubator, we read the instructions. It was so easy. You must remove 3 screws that were used to keep the front door closed during shipping. After that, all you do is plug it in! It is preset for temperature, has auto turning and is so simple!

I decided to do a dry hatch and then transfer the eggs over to the Styrofoam incubator as a hatcher.  I did this because I do not know how to control humidity for a set of eggs that needs to hatch and increase, while there is younger eggs incubating that do not need a high humidity. Also, I don't want all those cracked egg shells and baby fuzz floating around in this gorgeous cabinet, it will get really gross quickly if I did that.

I set up the incubator in the living room. I know, I am just so damn proud of it, I want to pass by it and see and hear it.  It is not that great in the middle of the night. When it heats, for about 7 seconds once or twice an hour, it makes a beeping sound. You learn to ignore it after time.

If I check my eggs I simply hit the "M" button on the GQF to manually move the turning trays back to horizontal positions.  This makes it easy to pull out the egg tray and take a look or candle.

I am not a big candle-er. I prefer to let them grow, hands off for 18 days. When I take them out  to go into lockdown, I candle them.  There is always a few that were not fertilized, but it was worth a try.

Overall, It was shipped in a very well protected box, with corner savers, and all the great packaging to protect it from any dings or scratches.  It was easy to set up, and ready to start as soon as it was unboxed.  Now on to collecting eggs and start hatching in larger quantities!! Yes, I am crazy, this puppy holds up to 270 chicken eggs at a time. What in the world would I do with 270 chicks??? Lets not test that!!
