So I Bought a GREENHOUSE ! Shelterlogic Growit 20L x 10W x 8H ft. Greenhouse-In-A-Box Construction Day 3 Review
10-14-2018
Day 3 of this long assembly process. By now I'm still excited although it seems the directions are big FAT LIAR FACES! Even with Babylove helping me a lot, it is taking WAY to long to put this up. On this 3rd day, I was able to get the side panels up, pretty easy. The large center piece is really hard and heavy. It took 2 of us a lot of work to get it up and over. Now Its time to secure it down and run the stabilizer bars around the outer long edges and anchor this baby.
The short end panels actually stay on with a nylon strap and anchor system. I had to unscrew the top frame to get the straps in place. Once that was done I had to get the main long tarp over. We pulled it over as best we can and evened it out. There were still a lot of metaltubes to place in the long sides about 24f" up for stability. These tubes were then t frame bolted to the upright main frames. Once all this was secured, it actually looked like a greenhouse, that is until the wind started.
It was pretty warm all day, I mean tank top warm. All of a sudden, as soon as I was done with all assembly the 30-40 mile hour winds started. The whole greenhouse was blowing away!! I had not got to the part where you anchor down the spiral things or attached the cables and U-bolts. It was so windy that I had to grab a roof main frame tube and hang from it to make it not blow away!! Imagine that!! WTF!!! I reached my phone with one hand and called for backup!! Preston came running to me with the anchors and the rest of all the greenhouse supplies. I had to have him hold the frame down while I used the ratchet straps to crank down on the spiral anchors to secure the whole greenhouse.
I am already worrying about the future with this. I wonder how long this will last. The wind just whips in the short ands an the long sides. How will it maintain a warm temperature? We will see!!
Pictures below of the process. Of course, Tom Tom has to be up my butt most of the day!
