The Tulsa Shootout 2019

The Tulsa Shootout 2019

Every New Years Eve memory I have had had in the past 20 years has been at the Tulsa Shootout.  When my husband stopped racing and our babies started, I was there every A-main night for sure.  In 2018 we took a lot of time off of Micro Sprint racing. Babylove and the kids spent different time together. Instead of the hustle, working on cars all week and slamming in 2 shows per weekend, Tulsa then OKC, they slept in and went fishing.

It was trying to simplify, my poor husband is very over worked and his joy and passion is taking care of and watching the boys race.  It has to be tired some. I don't understand the drive. Work hard all week, just to work all night on cars, bust ass all weekend, just to spend Sunday unloading, washing and start all over again.  It brings him great joy.

I on the other hand, enjoy my children's joy, but after working all week, I really like the weekends with no schedules, no running around, just stay home and take care of everything that was neglected all week.  This includes a loud radio set on the 90's station and long hours tending to my animals, and spending time with them.  Total bliss for me.

They decided not to run the Tulsa Shootout this year, and only attend every night as a bystander.

NYE 2018 was going well.  We took away Fortnite and it was family fun night.  We played Jenga, Operation and Yatzi.  I had been sick for a couple days, coughing, runny nose, all that great stuff.  I went to bed at 9:15, just couldn't hang.

I guess in true boredom, Babylove decided to go out to the shop and work on the cars. He always keeps them maintained, safety checks and clean.  He was preparing for the races.

The next day he woke up early and back to the shop he went.  Parker's car was almost done, just had to adjust pedals since he had grown taller.  Then to start going through Preston's car.  Spent most the day and they were ready.

A day later, they loaded up and went to the Tulsa Shootout.  The rest is history.  My children had a great time as always. Most important was the learning and memories they made.

One of our great friends won the Golden Driller in Restrictor class. When it is someone so close, it feels like your own child, your own family has won. We are so proud of him for winning. It makes it all worth it. All these kids try so hard, with their parents hard work and love supporting them.  I am so proud of all of these racers for making it another great year!  Congratulations Shaun Mahafey on your Tulsa Shootout win!!
