Building a Barndominium: Paragon Ridge Ranch Trenching Water Line on a Mountain: One Small Step For Man...One large Step For This Homestead

One Small Step For Man...One large Step For This Homestead

Water. We cannot survive without it. But what about kind of without it? We are so use to just turning on the faucet and ta da!!! Clean water. Rewind to 2 months ago...

We moved onto our virgin land.  The water company had come out 4 months prior to trench the main water line from the other side of the main road, to our side of the road, about 6 foot.  They came and only dug a hole on each side and just left it.  We decided to purchase a clean new 275 gallon IPC container. Our problems were solved, until 2 days later it was empty!

Our sweet neighbors have allowed us to fill up our tank as needed, THANK GOD for sweet neighbors!!

Pump in water to camper, full 5 gallon buckets and walk them to the coop and goat paddock, turn off shower while showing, on and off, on and off...We constantly ran out of water, back to the neighbors.

Fast Forward to today!  The crew at Tulsa Sod and Mulch showed up, trenching started around 9 am.  They used the RT120 from Ditch Witch.   Almost 1200 feet of trenching and line needed to be laid and this machine was a champ.  It is amazing how this machine works! It cuts right through solid mountain rock like slicing butter!! The layed 2" line from the main road all the way up the mountain and around to the house. The crew worked for 12 hours straight! We now have the water to the house by the foundation, and a frost free tap ran to the barn and garden area.

GAME CHANGER!! I know water the animals until my heart desires (I may or may not have sprayed them all a little too to cool them off)!! I have probably drowned my Tomatoes, I was doing happy dances under the shower setting in the garden!! I even made the kids a baby pool out of a trough, fountain pump and a fan!

Small achievements make me happy during this long building process.  I keep hurrying up and waiting, so this was a great check mark off my list!!
